About Us
Nestled in the leafy streets of Pontcanna, Cardiff, mooch-y is a design led homeware store that celebrates the beauty of the everyday.
Our collection features pieces from independent designers, cult brands and established design studios across Europe. Everything we sell has been selected for its design, function and craftsmanship
mooch-y is more than a shop. It’s a space to slow down and connect with a community that values design in all it's iterations. We're so glad you found us!
Our Values
At mooch-y, everything we do is rooted in a belief that good design matters, not just in how things look, but in how they’re made, used, and lived with. These values guide what we choose to stock, how we work, and the kind of community we’re building.
1. Thoughtful Curation
We only choose things we truly believe in... useful, beautiful pieces that are made to last. Our edit is intentionally small, considered, and ever-evolving.
2. Design with Purpose
We champion designers who think deeply about form, function, and material. Behind every object is a process, a maker, and a reason for being.
3. Everyday Joy
We believe in finding joy in the simple things. The mug you reach for every morning, the candle that marks the end of the day, the bowl that just feels right in your hands.
4. Community First
mooch-y is proudly rooted in Pontcanna, and shaped by the people who visit us. Whether you're a regular or just passing through, we want you to feel at home.
5. Slow Over Fast
We resist trends and throwaway culture. Instead, we choose pieces that hold up over time, through use, and beyond seasons.
Our Founder
mooch-y was founded by Meg Redman, a contemporary furniture specialist with a background in sourcing design packages for residential and hospitality projects across the UK. Working closely with iconic British and European brands gave Meg a deep appreciation for the design process, materials, and how ideas become the objects that we live with and use everyday.
A lifelong design enthusiast (and quiet Copenhagen obsessive), Meg often talks of the frisson that she experiences from well designed objects. She’s drawn to Scandinavian, Italian and mid-century design, bold colours, recycled materials and pieces that balance playfulness with purpose.
Her style is eclectic but her ethos is simple: good design should be accessible, joyful and part of everyday life.
